How to cite mutli-volume works (click for more info)
This page generates the citation for the single volume of the source by default. To cite a multi-volume work as a whole set,
please remove the Single Volume Title and Volume Number, then add a Total Number of Volumes. In some cases, you may have to
change the publication date(s) to reflect
publication dates of first and last volumes. Then click "Submit" to generate citation again.
Using Pelikan's Christian Doctrine and Modern Culture as an example, notice
the changes in publishing the date and volume info –

No footnote for multi-volume set. According to Turabian, footnote citation should include the specific volume quoted in your paper.
